Prescription Addiction

Drugs are made to help us in our illness from simple colds to the most vital ones like mental sickness. There are hundred variety of medicine intended for different kinds of illness. There are antibiotics for unwanted micro-organisms, analgesic for hard to handle pains, antihistamine for treating allergies and many more. But drug addiction doesn’t only fall on taking illegal drugs but prescription drugs as well.

Among these, pain killer is the most abused medicine. But the thing is it’s not illegal. It is a prescribed drug or may be over the counter for individuals with very ill conditions. But due to the effectiveness of the drug it is used more than the required dose or more than the doctor’s prescription limit. Usually these drugs are used by much stressed persons because of the ability of the drug to cause sedation. That is the reason why many individuals are labeled in substance abuse on prescription drugs. Another reason why this drug is so addictive is because of one of its key ingredient. Morphine is a highly addictive drug that is combined in pain killers. It is an active agent in opium that acts directly to the central nervous system to relieve pain.

This kind of addiction is as serious as addiction on illegal drugs. A substance that is taken more than the body’s requirement is automatically considered bad for ones health. We have the option of undergoing medical detox if we feel like or if we are having sign and symptoms of drug toxicity. Let us not get ourselves get involved or get hooked in this kind of addiction for it will only lead to harm.

Deadly Combination

When we go to a party like college frat parties, we usually see a lot of alcohol and drugs. We might not use them but some others will and might even mix them together. The effect that is felt by mixing the two substances together might be of the scale but toxicity from it is deadly.

Overdose from either is seriously lethal so the combination will be twice as deadly. Alcohol is a substance that could cause damage to our neurons which could affect or normal brain function. Some effects of alcohol toxicity are slurred speech, shuffling gait, constricted pupils, acute respiratory failure, impaired judgment and death. The first three that mentioned are early sign of intoxication which leads to the other three mentioned. Alcoholism is one of the most known addictions most known to mankind and fact that it is legally sold everywhere makes it very accessible to drinkers.

Drugs on the other hand are a substance that is sold illegally due to the horrifying effects that have caused a lot of deaths all over the globe. Just to name some crystal meth, cocaine, opium, heroin and marijuana are just a few kinds of these illegal substances that are abused by many individuals. Drug addiction is a great problem that our community is facing and the longer we delay in taking action the more horrible situations will become.

Both substances are very harmful to our bodies and most importantly not to be taken together for it might cause endless complications leading to death. We should educate the young people as early as possible to divert their attention on drugs and alcohol.

Stay Away From Addiction

Stay away from addiction. It’s much easier said than done because you can never predict what’s going to happen in your life. Many have said that they would never get hooked on harmful substances like alcohol, meth or cocaine but one day you’ll be surprised to see them high as a bird and they won’t recognize you anymore. Maybe some of your closest friends, healthy as an ox before but turn malnourished because they where using those addictive stuffs. Now why do these kinds of things happen? How can someone so smart and strong fail on their promise to stay sober? And how can we help them get back on their knees?

The thing is, when life’s stresses hit you like a rock unaware, and then chances are you’ll find some other sort of recreation or object that serves as your diversionary activity. Some would eat, go shopping, go on a vacation to unwind, watch a movie or pray for guidance. But other, those who lack access to those kinds of stuff or prefers something that they think is a much easier and faster way of escaping their problems turn to drug addiction. The most common type of problem an ordinary person would go through are family problems like sibling rivalry, parents split up or death of a family member; in school like trying to keep up with the grades or maintaining the grades; love life like split ups; peer pressure where you have to meet the expectancy of your chosen friends; and trying to have or maintaining a good paying job. These are the ones which stress us the most and devour our wellbeing. If we cannot find the a way to deal with out inner and outer tensions then one way of the other we will end up crazy or dead.

So how do we deal with these? We sought from our family and guidance councilors, choose the right set of friends, and practically pray for guidance and wisdom to do the right thing. Try hard enough to stay sober and if the time comes where you can’t take it anymore then do the stuffs mentioned above that is far from the wrong deeds. And if your friends or loved ones are the people who needs help then don’t be selfish in giving it. Be a good friend and a good example to your friends; help them as long and as much as you can. Keep them away from harmful drugs or help them seek help from treatment centers.

Support them in their quest for a better life. Always bear in mind to stay away from addiction and never loose focus on that.
